every once in a while we come upon a rare,
small batch that doesn’t quite fit in our line-up. We find these rare batches a home one of two ways: Support need communities in Oaxaca by donating a portion of sales to Oaxacan-based non-profits, and support our friends who run small businesses in the U.S. and bottle them an exclusive release.
EN01 - This 60-liter batch of Jabali-Tobalá is the result of Alberto Martinez’s first attempt to harvest, ferment and distill these two wild, high altitude agaves together. Tasting events hosted by Chicago’s Quiote and CH Distillery, as well some proceeds from the sale of the bottle, allowed us to donate nearly $1,000 to S.A.C.R.E.D., who in turned used those funds to support earthquake victims in Huajuapan, Oaxaca.
EN02 - A rarity for us, this post-distillation blend of Bicuixe and Madrecuixe was crafted by Atenogenes Garcia in 2014. A tasting event hosted at Dove’s Chicago and significant proceeds from the sale of this batch allowed us to donate approximately $650 to Centeotl A.C. to support the construction of a greenhouse at a community center in Zimatlan de Alvarez, Oaxaca.
EN03 - Alberto Martinez’s Jabali-Tobalá blend was so nice he tried it twice. This time some proceeds from the sale of this 110-liter batch will be donated to the Zaachila Agave Project, an initiative that teaches middle school students how to grow agave from seed.
